The VAXIS Litecomm Full-Duplex Intercom System is gaining attention as an ideal solution for production teams and individuals needing real-time, multi-user communication. The system distinguishes itself with a split design, featuring separate headset and receiver/transmitter belt packs.
The split design results in a lighter, slimmer profile, beneficial for camera operators. However, concerns have been raised regarding the one-size-fits-all approach, especially in terms of ear size compatibility and noise cancellation capabilities. Each headset weighs a mere 38g (1.34 oz).
Network and Frequency Range
Up to eight units can be connected on the same network, operating within the 2.4GHz to 2.48GHz frequency spectrum. The system has evolved significantly since its prototype was showcased at NAB earlier in the year, with numerous design improvements implemented.
Connectivity and Range
The system uses Bluetooth 5.1 for connectivity between the headsets and the belt packs, offering a 20m (65.6 ft) range. This feature allows users to keep the belt pack nearby without needing to carry it. The overall operating range of the system is impressive, reaching up to 1000ft (305m) in line of sight conditions.
Advanced Features
Key features include advanced DSP noise reduction for clear communication with minimal background noise, full-duplex wireless communication supporting up to 8 sets, ultra-long battery life, wireless cascading for extended distances, grouping and seamless switching, wired audio output with minimal delay, NFC pairing, echo cancellation, active noise reduction, and automatic screen and key lock-off.
Battery Life and Charging
The headsets boast a continuous operation time of up to 12 hours and can be fully charged in just 40 minutes. The belt pack’s operation time varies between 8 to 10 hours, depending on whether it is used as a host or guest. This discrepancy in operating times between the headset and belt pack has raised some questions.
User Interface and Pairing
Using the headset is intuitive – lifting the microphone to put it on and pulling it down to talk. A button on the side allows for easy mic control. NFC pairing is straightforward, indicated by a green light and a voice prompt confirming a successful connection. Bluetooth pairing is also available, with a simple long-press and indicator lights guiding the process.
Overall, the VAXIS Litecomm Full-Duplex Intercom System represents a significant advancement in wireless communication technology for professional settings, offering a range of features aimed at enhancing user experience and operational efficiency.
