Videosys Broadcast, a leader in camera control systems, has recently introduced an advanced control system for the MEDIAEDGE QDCAM high-speed box camera. This new system simplifies integration of the high-quality camera into existing production workflows.
The plug-and-play system, designed to fit into standard equipment racks, is built on intuitive software that automatically sets up the camera and control unit (CCU) according to the selected format. This innovation allows broadcasters to utilize the QDCAM box camera for both 4K and high-speed slow-motion (x4) shooting.
Ease of Use in Broadcasting
For 15 years, Videosys Broadcast has been at the forefront of creating user-friendly solutions for film and television crews. The introduction of the Remote Control Panel (RCP) for MEDIAEDGE QDCAM is a testament to their commitment to ease of use in broadcasting. Colin Tomlin, Managing Director of Videosys Broadcast, highlights the RCP’s potential to broaden the camera’s appeal, especially in sports broadcasting where 4K resolution and high-speed shooting are essential.
Overcoming Previous Limitations The MEDIAEDGE QDCAM has been popular for its exceptional image quality and affordability. However, its complex setup and non-standard, non-weatherproof design limited its use in broadcast environments. Videosys Broadcast’s collaboration with MEDIAEDGE has led to the development of a new RCP system and fibre implementation, overcoming these limitations and positioning the QDCAM as a viable option for broadcasters.
A Boon for Sports Production
The demand for high-speed cameras in sports production is ever-increasing, particularly for multi-angle and free viewpoint video production. The QDCAM, with features like excellent image quality, remote camera/lens control with micro 4/3 lenses, and a Global Shutter CMOS Image Sensor, meets this demand. Its Optical Transmission system, compatible with standard SMPTE fibre optic cables, further enhances its suitability for sports broadcasting.
Availability and Demo Broadcasters interested in the new control system for QDCAM are encouraged to contact Videosys Broadcast for a demonstration and further information.
