Joseph Electronics, a renowned distributor in the United States for Videosys Broadcast, a UK-based specialist in camera control technology, is set to present an array of innovative camera control solutions from Videosys Broadcast at the upcoming NAB 2024 event.
The exhibition, located at Booth C1708, will focus on products aimed at enhancing production workflows and facilitating the tasks of film and television production teams.
The MEDIAEDGE QDCAM Remote Control System
A highlight of the show will be the introduction of Videosys Broadcast’s new Remote Control Panel (RCP) system, designed for the MEDIAEDGE QDCAM high-speed box camera. This system marks its first appearance in the USA and is engineered to simplify the deployment of the camera for 4K and high-speed slow-motion productions. The system, which is fiber-based for easy connectivity, integrates into standard equipment racks with software that automatically adjusts camera and control unit settings based on the selected format.
Colin Tomlin, Managing Director at Videosys Broadcast, emphasizes the enhancement of the MEDIAEDGE QDCAM’s usability with this new system. The RCP system and fiber connectivity address previous challenges such as complex setup procedures and non-weatherproof components, making the camera a more suitable choice for broadcast environments.
Features of the QDCAM and Additional Products
The QDCAM offers high image quality and compatibility with micro 4/3 lenses, expanding lens options for users. Its Global Shutter CMOS Image Sensor eliminates the distortions typical of rolling shutter sensors. The system’s optical transmission leverages standard SMPTE fiber optic cables, commonly found in sports broadcasting venues.
Joseph Electronics will also display the Epsilon 4K base station Camera Control Unit (CCU), designed to reduce setup times and simplify operations for radio camera installations. This device supports dual head operation for seamless camera movement between zones without adjustment, and integrates a wireless workflow for efficient control.
Recent Innovations from Videosys Broadcast
Videosys Broadcast has introduced several new features for its camera control systems, including the TSL TallyMan protocol integration for improved tally and UMD data management in complex or remote production setups. This feature is available to new customers and as a free software update for existing users.
Other advancements include remote control capabilities for the AEON-CC and STX-CC transmitters via a web interface, allowing for easier frequency adjustments and transmitter management. Videosys has also introduced support for Ethernet control of Sony’s FX9 cameras, catering to the camera’s popularity in entertainment and sports production.
