Official Announcement of Viltrox LUNA 30-300mm T4

This lens is the first in a new series that will eventually include a 22-200mm T2.8 S35 Luna zoom and a larger zoom lens designed to cover 65mm sensors.

Exhibition Testing

At the Cinegear exhibition, the LUNA 30-300mm T4 will be mounted on a camera at the Viltrox booth, allowing attendees to test the lens.

Prototype at NAB

A prototype of this lens was first showcased a few months ago at NAB. According to Viltrox, the lens was created to demonstrate the highest level of optical quality.

Aperture and Coverage

The lens features a constant T4 aperture across the entire zoom range and covers image circles up to 46.5mm. It is designed to perfectly cover full-frame sensors without vignetting, even at extreme zoom ranges. Additionally, the 46.5mm image circle ensures full coverage for larger formats like ARRI LF and RED VV:

• VV: 40.96mm x 21.60mm

Physical Specifications

The LUNA 30-300mm T4 weighs 15 kg (33 lbs). For a size comparison, it is displayed next to a Viltrox 75mm 1.33x anamorphic lens.

Optical Features

The lens maintains a constant T4.0 aperture throughout the 30-300mm focal range, ensuring consistent brightness and a shallow depth of field. It is equipped with an 8-blade diaphragm, which is claimed to produce pleasing bokeh.

The Viltrox Luna 30-300mm T4 Full Frame Zoom Lens will retail for around $65,000 USD. Despite the high price, it is considered reasonably priced for a lens with such a focal range and aperture that covers a 46.5mm image circle.
