Vinten has revealed the latest update to its control system software, VEGA v1.1, which now features AI-driven Presenter Tracking technology developed in collaboration with Seervision.
This innovation follows the initial release of the VEGA Control System at NAB 2023 and marks a significant advancement from version 1.0 launched in the summer. The upgrade enhances the legacy Vinten HD-VRC Control System with a new dynamic interface and a modular, hardware-independent software framework that supports virtual deployment effortlessly.
Features and Capabilities of VEGA Presenter Tracking
The new VEGA Presenter Tracking is seamlessly integrated into the VEGA Client Interface and its shot selection grid, combining Vinten’s renowned on-air motion quality with Seervision’s cutting-edge AI for tracking and framing on-air talent. This technology leverages artificial intelligence to identify individuals on screen automatically and predict their movements using skeletal kinematics, allowing for anticipatory camera adjustments that mimic those of a human operator.
Trials and Compatibility
Neil Garder, the Senior Product Manager for Robotics at Vinten, reported that VEGA Presenter Tracking has undergone extensive testing with leading broadcasters in the EMEA and USA regions. The technology has proven successful in enhancing productions previously deemed too challenging for robotic camera supports. The system’s compatibility with existing Vinten hardware allows broadcasters to upgrade their studios incrementally without the need for a complete overhaul of their existing equipment.
This update signifies a pivotal development in broadcast technology, offering an innovative solution that integrates AI-driven tracking capabilities into the production environment, thus expanding the possibilities for robotic camera use in live and studio settings.
