In a groundbreaking development, Vizrt, a global leader in real-time graphics and live production solutions, has unveiled Viz Pilot Edge 3.0, a significant upgrade that introduces a sleek, user-friendly interface and a host of new control options, aiming to revolutionize graphics creation and playout in the media industry.

Announced on October 4, 2023, in Bergen, Norway, Viz Pilot Edge 3.0 emerges as a pivotal tool in newsroom graphics creation, embodying practical advancements that facilitate efficient storytelling by journalists. The upgrade is not merely an aesthetic overhaul but a strategic enhancement, developed using modern web technology (Vue, TypeScript), which ensures a user interface that is not only more responsive but also achieves a start-up time that is up to 3x faster*.

Ionut ‘Johnny’ Pogacean, Senior Product Manager for Viz Pilot Edge, emphasized the strategic importance of the tool in the newsroom graphics creation ecosystem. He stated, “We are taking practical steps to ensure journalists can tell stories most efficiently by building products for a workflow that is relevant not only for today’s newsrooms but also for the newsrooms of the future.”

The redesigned interface, while promoting speed and agility in the newsroom, retains a familiar feel for users. It features a streamlined layout, optimized for various screen sizes, enabling users to focus intently on graphics creation. Navigation has been enhanced to facilitate easier location of templates and elements, with dropdowns and tabs providing swift access to regularly used features. The search function now incorporates multiple tag filtering, and the preview window can be undocked, providing additional flexibility, especially when working with multi-field advanced templates.

In addition to the interface upgrade, Viz Pilot Edge 3.0 introduces the ability to drag and drop multiple elements into a story slug, radio buttons in templates, improved crop functionality, and expedited editing of tables. Live data input is also enhanced with the addition of feed browser RSS feed support.

The integration of new Order Management has simplified the process of requesting and managing images. Journalists can prepare their templates with relevant text and/or data and send an order directly to the Creative Department via Viz Pilot Edge, providing a transparent and efficient management overview of media orders.

Moreover, the incorporation of AR/VR into automated rundowns has been simplified with the ability to host the Viz Arc MOS plugin. This allows users to control AR/VR graphics in one unified interface and execute playout with a studio automation application like Viz Mosart, ensuring no disruption to workflows despite the extensive interface change.

Vizrt remains committed to providing innovative solutions that cater to the evolving needs of content creators and journalists, ensuring that they are equipped with tools that are not only relevant for today’s newsrooms but also future-ready.
