Wohler Technologies, renowned for their expertise in video, audio, and data monitoring solutions, has recently expanded their iVAM product line.
The latest offering, the iVAM2-12G, is a 2U, 16-channel audio/video monitor that supports 12G-SDI. This product is now available for shipping.
Enhancements Over Previous Model: The iVAM2-12G builds upon the foundation laid by the iVAM1-12G, which was released in mid-2022. This new model can monitor up to 16 channels of 12G-SDI audio and video, along with two analog audio channels. Its compact 2U design is packed with features, including 64 presets and dual touch screens. These screens enable operators to switch between video, audio meters, loudness measurements, and menu options effortlessly. Moreover, a HDMI output is included for external video source monitoring, and it comes standard with analog XLR, headphone, and selected 3G-SDI outputs.
Advanced Features and Upgrade Options
Flexible Upgrade Capabilities: Users can enhance the iVAM2-12G’s functionality thanks to the various upgrade options available on the rear panel. These upgrades include monitoring capabilities for AES3, MADI 64 (with a fiber option), SMPTE 2110, and SMPTE 2022-6. Additionally, an option card slot on the rear panel allows for further customization with either an AoIP card, supporting Dante or Ravenna (compatible with SMPTE 2110-30 and hitless SMPTE 2022-7), or an expansion for eight additional channels of analog inputs and outputs.
User-Friendly Interface and Controls: The front panel of the iVAM2-12G features dual 4.3” touch screens, drawing on design principles from the earlier iAM Series. The device also includes physical controls for main volume, balance, and auxiliary settings, complementing the touch screen operations. Operators can easily sum, solo, or mute individual audio channels using either the touch interface or physical controls.
Additional Functionalities and Expert Commentary
Software and Network Integration: For keeping up with emerging technologies, the iVAM2-12G is equipped with a front-mounted USB port for software updates. A network interface is also present for remote management purposes, and the unit supports integration with third-party controllers through available APIs.
Expert Insights: Kim Templeman-Holmes, the Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Wohler Technologies, highlights that the iVAM2-12G is a response to customer demands for a larger screen and enhanced audio monitoring capabilities. This AV monitor is highly configurable and supports the monitoring of the latest signal technologies, including hitless SMPTE 2022-7.
