Wooden Camera has released the Elite Accessory System for Canon’s newest cinema camera, the EOS C400.
This system includes various rigging and power accessories designed to enhance the camera’s functionality and efficiency. Key components include a 3-piece top plate, a NATO side rail, a baseplate system, a cheese plate for the Canon’s original top handle, and a hot-swap V-mount or Gold mount battery plate.
Features of the Wooden Camera Elite Accessory System
Modular Top Plate
The Elite Accessory System features a modular top plate with a 3-piece design. Users can remove the center part of the top plate to use the camera’s original top handle or keep the center plate on to attach Wooden Camera’s Ultra Handle. The top plate includes multiple 1/4”-20 and 3/8”-16 mounting points for accessories, with four front-facing 3/8”-16 threads to attach a dual rod clamp for 15mm rods.
Top Handle Cheese Plate
If users prefer the original Canon top handle, they can attach the dedicated Top Handle Cheese Plate to add extra mounting points. This plate has a cutout design to avoid interference with the top handle’s hot shoe and mic mounts. For those using Wooden Camera’s Ultra Handle, the original EOS C400 viewfinder can be mounted to the front using the Ultra Handle Viewfinder Mount.
NATO Side Rail
The system includes a Side Rail for the camera’s right side, accommodating NATO-clamp accessories such as wireless video transmitters. The NATO Side Rail securely attaches to the top plate and can be positioned vertically or horizontally.
Base Plate System
At the bottom, the Base Plate System features an ARCA Riser Plate with side 1/4”-20 threaded holes and the actual Base Plate. The ARCA Riser Plate can support a lens mount at the front compatible with Wooden Camera’s shimmable PL to RF mount.
Hot-Swap Battery Plate
Wooden Camera offers a hot-swap battery plate available in both V-mount and Gold mount options. This plate attaches directly to the back of the EOS C400 body, connects to the camera’s 4-pin XLR power port, and has a tilting design to access the original EOS C400 BP-U battery. The battery plate includes three D-Tap ports for powering accessories and a digital fuse that protects the accessories from overload while keeping the camera running.
