Zero Density, FEELWORLD, NetOn.Live in «360 seconds»

360 Seconds. Broadcast News & Commentary is a weekly program on Youtube about the latest equipment for broadcasting and film. Explained by experts – practitioners directly working in the field of cinema and television.

Hosts: Philip Grossman, host and co-producer at Visionariesand Ezequiel “Pax” Moore.  Production – TKT1957 LLC. Air date: September 2, 2024.

Zero Density will showcase its expanded graphics ecosystem at IBC2024

Pax: Zero Density will showcase its expanded graphics ecosystem at IBC2024. Philip, what are your thoughts on this? Do you have any opinions about their exhibitions?

Philip: I think what’s interesting is that we’re seeing a significant shift in our industry over the last eight years or so, where COTS (Commercial Off-The-Shelf) hardware has really risen and become far more performant than the custom hardware we had to build in the past. This change has lowered costs and allowed more players into the market space. This is a perfect example where they’re building an ecosystem for the game engine world, which we’re now using extensively within our 3D space, extended reality, virtual reality, and on-screen graphics. It’s really creating a much more compelling storytelling experience, especially in live environments. Of course, we need tools to do that, and by adopting higher performance GPUs and integrating them into an ecosystem, it makes it easier for organizations to adopt these technologies. I think it’s excellent. I hope to see more.

To some extent, you get a lot of static in the system when these things become easier, but at the same time, you also open it up to those who may not have had the means in the past to afford the hardware or build their own systems. Now, they can buy a packaged system. Overall, I think it’s a great thing for the industry. I’m excited to see where they go. I’m actually going to stop by and visit them; I have some clients who might be interested in their technology at IBC next week.

Two new SEETEC P133 PRO and P215 PRO director’s monitors are designed for broadcast studios and live production applications

Pax: Awesome, wow. Okay, in other news, FEELWORLD has just released two new monitors: the SEETEC P133 PRO and P215 PRO director’s monitors, designed for broadcast studios and live production applications. Do you have any thoughts on this, Philip?

Philip: Yeah, so FEELWORLD is a relatively new player in the monitor industry. They’ve actually been making some really nice monitors. Am I doing a hundred-million-dollar budget film with these monitors? Probably not. But this does provide, again, for the up-and-coming filmmaker or small television environment or university-based television system, the ability to have a really good, high-performing, relatively inexpensive monitor.

Philip: The 13-inch model is priced at roughly $700, and the 21-inch model is slightly more expensive. These monitors bring professional-grade capabilities to the average customer who, in the past, couldn’t afford such technology. These are tools that are really helping as more people create media, and hopefully, they help in creating better media, giving us more and better content to watch. I’m excited to see what these monitors look like. I plan to visit them at IBC and see how good they are. The brightness levels on these monitors are impressive—both are around 1000 nits. The contrast ratio on the 13-inch is slightly higher than the 21-inch, with the 13-inch at 1000:1 and the 21-inch at 800:1. They provide HDR capabilities and support various LUTs, offering professional-level capabilities to smaller production companies that may not have the budgets yet. I’m excited to see what they’re doing.

The new capabilities include an enhanced sports workflow and a universal multiviewer

Pax: Awesome. And in some NetOn.Live news, they have new capabilities that include an enhanced sports workflow and a universal multiviewer. Do you have any thoughts on this? Is this something that piques your interest at all?

Philip: Yes, this type of software is a shining example of what we can do now with off-the-shelf hardware. I’m now able to basically build my own production studio or production capabilities using smaller computer models or software modules. You can pick and choose the components you need to build your production environment—whether it’s one player, two players, or four players—it’s all software-based. This really enables smaller production companies to achieve a professional level of what we used to do with complex, expensive hardware, which had a limited shelf life. In the past, hardware would only last five to seven years before the capabilities couldn’t be upgraded. Now, because it’s all software-based, these investments can extend over time. This type of tech will enable creators to go from the basic YouTube model to a professional broadcasting level at a much lower cost, with investments that can last longer. I can’t wait to see what they have to offer at IBC as well.

Pax: Well, many thanks to our expert Philip Grossman, the team at TKT, and everyone who supports us. Don’t forget to leave a comment and like, and we’ll see you next time!
