Gravity Media, a global leader in live production and media services, unveiled its innovative camera technology, crafted in Australia, for the worldwide broadcast of The Hundred, a burgeoning cricket tournament by the England and Wales Cricket Board.
The Globecam unit of Gravity Media Australia is set to enhance the viewing experience with its revolutionary HelmetCam during The Hundred matches, starting 1 August. This camera will be affixed to the helmets of participants in both the men’s and women’s events.
This year’s introduction of the HelmetCam in The Hundred follows the successful use of the UmpireCam by Gravity Media Australia in the Indian Premier League. Both these lightweight cameras, weighing a mere 75 grams and boasting high-definition 1080i format, were conceived and crafted in Australia. They are now pivotal to cricket broadcasts globally.
Globecam is acclaimed for its pioneering high-definition mini live broadcast tools, offering viewers captivating footage from unique angles. Their innovations include in-car cameras for the V8 Supercars Championship, the NetCam for tennis Grand Slams since 2018, and the Live JockeyCam for horse racing since 2019. Their camera applications extend to various sports, from tennis and cricket to sailing and athletics.
Greg Littrich, Director of Operations at Gravity Media Australia, expressed pride in their camera technologies enhancing The Hundred’s global TV coverage. He emphasized the company’s commitment to evolving their specialty cameras and celebrated their Australian-made technology’s global impact. Littrich also highlighted their enduring partnerships in cricket coverage and their role in connecting fans to the action in The Hundred.
