Telos Alliance, a leader in broadcast audio, has released a significant software update for the Jünger flexAI platform, which includes the AIXpressor and flexAIserver.
The latest version, 2023-12r4, features comprehensive improvements in Audio over IP (AoIP) integration. It now fully supports SMPTE ST 2110-30 and -31 across all levels (A, B, and C) and integrates seamlessly with Livewire+ live streams. Additionally, the update includes NMOS IS-04 and IS-05 support, enhancing its compatibility with ST 2110-based workflows and popular orchestration systems.
Advanced Production Tools
The update introduces an advanced voice-over automixer that maintains dialogue balance within broadcasts. A new upmixer now includes center channel replacement technology, further enhancing audio output quality. The version also adds two new channel strips: a matrix mixer that can handle up to 16 input and output channels for simplified audio channel manipulation, and a multichannel delay feature with up to 20 seconds of audio delay across 16 channels.
Broadcasting Enhancements for FM and TV
For FM broadcasting, the update includes a new FM Conditioner that uses Jünger Audio’s MPX and Pre-Emphasis Limiter for transparent loudness management, compliant with ITU-R BS.412 MPX Power regulations. Television broadcasters will benefit from the inclusion of the Serial ADM (S-ADM) metadata format, facilitating the exchange of metadata across different production stages. The update also incorporates the MPEG-H 3D Audio toolset from Fraunhofer IIS, which includes an immersive monitor controller.
Security and Convenience Upgrades
Security features in the new release include an HTTPS web interface with a built-in security certificate, a password-protected login, and LDAP access control. Additionally, the update introduces a CPU meter for monitoring system performance and a web-based console terminal, which eliminates the need for separate terminal sessions for system setup. Users can now also monitor audio directly from any point in the processing chain via a native browser-based feature.
Availability and Licensing
The V2023-12r4 software is available immediately at no additional cost to customers who have a TelosCare PLUS SLA. However, any new processing features activated by the update will require the purchase of a corresponding license. Friedemann Kootz, the Managing Director of Jünger Audio, emphasized that the flexAI platform is designed to function as both a comprehensive standalone solution and as part of a larger integrated system, offering flexibility through its software-defined product design.
