Rohde & Schwarz: first liquid-cooled transmitter R&STE1

Rohde & Schwarz: New Efficient Transmitter Unveiled

Rohde & Schwarz has announced it will debut its new R&S TE1 liquid-cooled transmitter at the NAB Show 2024.

This event will take place from April 14 to April 17 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

The R&S TE1 marks the first liquid-cooled transmitter model released after the Repack period. This ATSC 3.0 native transmitter is designed to support sustainable broadcasting practices in today’s digital and interconnected era. It aims to transform the major challenges faced by broadcasters into opportunities for developing new digital services that could generate substantial revenue.

Enhanced Energy Efficiency

The R&STE1 transmitter is designed to be at least 15% more energy efficient than the most advanced current models, and 40% more efficient than the average transmitters currently in use. This efficiency gain corresponds to a significant reduction in carbon emissions, reaffirming Rohde & Schwarz’s commitment to setting new sustainability standards in broadcast transmission.

Advanced Cooling and Operational Features

Rohde & Schwarz’s proven liquid-cooled technology allows the R&S®TE1 to efficiently remove heat from its amplifiers, which eliminates the need for energy-consuming air conditioning systems. The design avoids common single points of failure, and its intelligent software continuously adjusts to maintain optimal efficiency throughout the transmitter’s life.

Ease of Maintenance and Operation

The unique design of the R&S®TE1 simplifies both maintenance and daily operations. It combines high reliability with straightforward troubleshooting and support for remote operations. This feature set reduces the necessity for onsite staff by allowing for comprehensive monitoring and control from remote locations.

Remote Monitoring Service (RMTX)

Rohde & Schwarz introduces a new service, RMTX (Remote Transmitter Monitoring), alongside the R&S®TE1. This service ensures that customers receive continual monitoring and expert support for their transmitter systems. It enables quick reactions to critical issues, remote technical support, expedited delivery of spare parts, and efficiently scheduled routine maintenance.
