SmallHD PageOS 6 Update: New Features, Enhanced Control for Monitors

SmallHD has revealed its latest PageOS 6 update, set to be released for free in May 2024.

This marks the company’s first major upgrade to its operating system in two years, promising a slew of enhancements aimed at improving usability and functionality across its current line of monitors.

Enhanced Features and User Interface

PageOS 6 introduces several new features, including a Fleet Control application, a redesigned Color Pipe, and support for Wi-Fi connectivity. The update also allows for the use of new dials and provides expanded control over function buttons, significantly enhancing user customization and streamlining the interface for a more intuitive experience.

Color Pipe and Workflow Integration

The update includes a new Color Pipe interface, which improves on-screen visibility of settings and streamlines workflow processes. Additionally, integration with Pomfort Livegrade allows users to apply this tool over any pre-existing 3D LUT within the Color Pipe on their SmallHD monitors, facilitating easier management of color grading.

Remote Control Capabilities

With the introduction of the Fleet Control App, users can remotely manage multiple monitors simultaneously via a tablet or computer. This application supports adjustments over Ethernet or Wi-Fi and includes functionalities such as matching settings, managing signals, and controlling LUTs and Color Pipes.

Exposure and Adjustment Tools

The update also expands the functionality of the EL Zone exposure tool, which now supports cameras with a wider dynamic range. Furthermore, PageOS 6 allows users to assign functions to knobs that support click, turn, and capacitive touch actions for precise control over custom exposure settings and crop adjustments.

Multi-View and Enhanced Monitoring

The Handheld Multi-View feature enables users of the SmallHD Ultra 7 Monitors to view multiple camera feeds simultaneously, supporting HDMI, SDI, and Internal Bolt 6 inputs. Other notable features include a Fine Adjustments Tool for precise crop and exposure tweaks and a GPI Tally Overlay that adds a recording indicator to SmallHD 4K Monitors.

Additional Customization and Control

PageOS 6 introduces a press-and-hold feature for function buttons, speeding up the workflow by allowing quick access to feeds, tools, pixel-zoom, and pre-loaded LUTs. It also enhances the SmallHD Smart 7 Series Monitors’ capabilities, turning them into remote command centers with Bolt 6 transmitters for camera control up to 5,000 feet away.

Availability

The PageOS 6 Beta will be available as a free download to all users in May 2024, offering a comprehensive upgrade to enhance the functionality and user experience of SmallHD monitors.
