Camera Foundry has expanded its line of camera enhancements with the A7 Series CineBack, now available for pre-order.
This new accessory is designed to work with several Sony models including the A7s III, A7 IV, A7R IV, A7R V, and A1. By attaching it to the camera cage, users can transform their device into a cinema-style camera.
Design and Compatibility
The CineBack is mounted onto the back of the camera cage, allowing for a range of setups from boxy cinema rigs to documentary styles with an additional XLR Handle Extension Kit. However, it should be noted that models A1 and A7R IV have fixed tilt screens that will be obstructed by the CineBack. An external monitor can be used to access the menu through the Info Display.

Setup Requirements
To utilize the CineBack, a compatible cage such as the SmallRig 3667B is required. The SmallRig 2999 is also an option, but it does not support the XLR Top Handle Unit and requires additional adapters and washers.
Optional Accessories
Users can enhance their setup with the XLR Extension Kit and a SmallRig Adapter Plate to utilize the Sony XLR-H1 handle. The CineBack also supports a cooling fan from Tilta specifically for the A7 IV. Power options include using a D-Tap to FZ100 Dummy Battery or a D-Tap to USB-C cable for power delivery.
Future Developments and Pricing
The Camera Foundry is also developing an AB Gold Mount version of the CineBack. The A7 Series CineBack is priced at $339.95 USD and is expected to start shipping in May.
