New Firmware Update 1.0.6 for SIRUI Sniper Lenses Now Available for FUJIFILM X-Mount

SIRUI has introduced a new firmware update for their Sniper series of APS-C lenses, particularly targeting the FUJIFILM X-Mount models.

This update is designed to enhance the communication between the lens and camera, resulting in improved autofocus and in-body image stabilization (IBIS) performance.

First Impressions and Review
The SIRUI Sniper lenses were first previewed at IBC 2023, with their official release following a few months later. These lenses have recently been thoroughly reviewed, with the findings available in a detailed video.

Lens Specifications
The Sniper series from SIRUI offers three focal lengths: 23mm, 33mm, and 56mm, each featuring a fast F/1.2 maximum aperture. Designed to cover APS-C image sensors, these lightweight lenses are available in Sony E, FUJIFILM X, and Nikon Z Mounts. Notably, the Sniper series represents SIRUI’s first foray into the world of autofocus lenses.

Firmware Update Details
The firmware update, version 1.0.6, aims to rectify previously identified issues with autofocus and IBIS performance. Prior to this update, reviewers noticed suboptimal communication between the lenses and FUJIFILM camera bodies, even when the correct focal length was manually set on the camera. This often resulted in “micro jittering” in video footage. The new firmware version 1.0.6 is expected to resolve these issues, enhancing the overall functionality and user experience with the SIRUI Sniper X-Mount lenses.
