Evertz Unveils SDVN Updates at NAB 2024

Evertz Unveils Updates to Its SDVN Solution at NAB 2024

At the NAB 2024 event, located at booth SU2027, Evertz will showcase the latest advancements in its Software Defined Video Networking (SDVN) solution.

This solution is pivotal in assisting the broadcast sector with the shift towards or the augmentation of all-IP infrastructures, leveraging SMPTE ST 2110 and NMOS protocols. With a track record of over 600 global installations, Evertz leverages its extensive expertise accrued over a decade to provide a comprehensive, format-independent solution for transitioning to IP across both on-premises and cloud environments.

The highlight of this year’s event is the introduction of the NATX-LT, a new generation network fabric designed to provide a cost-effective solution for core or aggregation needs across various media settings or mobile deployments. Integrated seamlessly with Evertz’ MAGNUM-OS, the NATX-LT switch fabric is adaptable, format-independent, and scalable, ensuring smooth routing for SMPTE ST 2110 and other media standards.

PREFEX Media Processing Edge (MPE)

Evertz is also set to unveil its PREFEX Media Processing Edge (MPE), a cutting-edge platform distinguished by its ultra-high-density and the industry’s leading encapsulation IP gateway capabilities, coupled with essential video processing functionalities required for the SDI to ST 2110 transition. This all-encompassing MPE is equipped to manage a variety of tasks including frame synchronization, up/down/cross conversion, and audio shuffling within a compact 1RU form factor.

ev670-X30-HW-V2 Conversion App

For extensive signal processing and conversion needs, Evertz will introduce a new application for the ev670-X30-HW-V2, focusing on up/down/cross conversion capabilities up to UHD, interlace support, HDR conversion with selectable LUT, video processing, as well as video and audio delay adjustments, and audio grooming in various configurations.

Enhancements to MAGNUM-OS

Evertz continues to innovate with its MAGNUM-OS platform, a robust orchestration, monitoring, and analytics solution designed for SDI, IP, or hybrid environments. At the core of Evertz’ SDVN offerings, MAGNUM-OS is engineered to streamline workflows, minimize operational expenses, and boost efficiency by enabling seamless connectivity across facilities, resources, and devices on a global scale. It supports hybrid operations combining on-premise and cloud-based (public or private) resources.

This year, Evertz emphasizes MAGNUM-OS’s enhanced capabilities in managing and controlling device status and configurations within cloud infrastructures, including AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud, as well as facilitating interconnectivity between cloud environments and broadcast facilities.

MAGNUM-OS extends its support to third-party devices via NMOS and direct APIs, facilitating device discovery and registration using IS-04, and flow management using IS-05. It also enables control over network switches from various manufacturers, ensuring efficient management of bandwidth and reliable switching of ST 2110 flows.

Advanced Control, Orchestration, and Monitoring

In addition to its control and orchestration functionalities, MAGNUM-OS offers comprehensive monitoring and real-time analytics capabilities. The platform is equipped with tools for monitoring PTP traffic, network performance, and IP-flow tracking, providing unparalleled visibility within and across broadcast media environments. For NAB 2024, Evertz introduces an advanced AI/ML-based log anomaly detection feature, LogSNAP, which enhances the platform’s analytics capabilities by identifying the root causes of issues through log analysis.
