QST LED, the manufacturer of HoloDeck LED tiles for ICVFX Virtual Production, will showcase its latest technology at the NAB Show 2024 (Las Vegas Convention Centre, April 14–17), alongside partners VICON and HCG Technologies.

The Holodeck 1.9mm LED tile, initially launched in 2023, was the first sub-2mm LED tile specifically designed for ICVFX virtual production. Its technical specifications and architecture are unique and advanced compared to standard event tiles. However, this approach ensures that the Holodeck delivers optimal ICVFX performance when viewed through a camera.
The Holodeck uses ultra-black common-cathode Flip Chip LEDs, and drives these at a market leading 15,360 Hz refresh rate, double the rate of all other LED tiles. Combined with its PantaBlackÔ masking, it delivers an industry-leading contrast ratio, and the highest colour gamut coverage of any sub-2mm tile at 99.7% of DCI P3 colourspace.
Currently available in 1.5mm, 1.9mm, and 2.3mm pixel pitches, QST is launching a lightweight version of the Holodeck 1.5mm and 1.9mm tiles. These tiles are targeted at LED volumes requiring ‘flown’ or hung LED walls, or for LED studios that need rapid re-configuration for different shots or different productions.
