Tribal Sound deployed 60 Electro-Voice X-Line Advance X2 loudspeakers and 24 X2-128 subwoofers for the 15th anniversary celebrations at Sud de France Arena in Montpellier.
The solution was designed using Electro-Voice PREVIEW loudspeaker coverage prediction software. The system was set up and monitored with SONICUE Sound System Software to ensure optimal performance.
Amplification
The large system was powered by 19 Dynacord TGX Series amplifiers. Ten TGX10 units drove the main tops, while nine TGX20 amplifiers powered the subs, frontfills, and the DJ booth.
System Layout
The main system consisted of 24 X2-212 per side, with an additional six per side for outfills. Six MFX-15 units served as frontfills. Low end was delivered by eight sets of three X2-128 subs configured in an end-fire array with a crossover at 70 Hz. MXF-15 coax wedges were used as DJ monitors, complemented by two PX2181 subs for the DJ booth.
Coverage Verification
The arena team tested the system before the event using a video of anniversary wishes. Even in an empty arena, the speakers delivered clear and intelligible sound throughout the venue.
Space and Form Factor
The X2 system offered a compact footprint without compromising power. The small and discreet design provided high sound quality and coverage while remaining unobtrusive within the arena.
Electronics and Reliability
Dynacord TGX amplifiers ensured system reliability. The combination of TGX units and SONICUE software detected a cabling fault during setup, preventing any damage to the speakers.
Event Outcome
The Electro-Voice and Dynacord system performed exactly as predicted. Coverage and sound quality received positive feedback from attendees, demonstrating the effectiveness of the solution for large-scale electronic music events.
