DPA Microphones has expanded its CORE+ microphone range with the 4097 CORE+ Micro Shotgun.

The company will show the updated microphone at NAB Show 2026 at Booth C4428.

The 4097 CORE+ is designed for speech, choir, film, broadcast, conferences, and houses of worship. It builds on the original 4097 and adds DPA’s latest CORE+ technology. As a result, the microphone delivers higher clarity, more headroom, and lower distortion across its dynamic range.

CORE+ Technology for Speech Clarity

DPA says CORE+ reduces distortion caused by microphone membranes and electronic components. This helps the microphone deliver a more natural and cleaner sound, especially in spoken-word applications.

According to the company, the 4097 CORE+ captures speech with greater accuracy and improved headroom. It also keeps intelligibility and tonal balance across a wide range of vocal levels.

Helga Somava, Director of Product Management at DPA Microphones, said the 4097 has long been used in applications where clarity and directionality matter. She added that CORE+ technology improves accuracy, reduces distortion, and increases headroom.

Directional Control and Noise Rejection

The 4097 CORE+ uses a tight supercardioid pickup pattern. Therefore, it provides strong off-axis rejection and helps reduce ambient noise and feedback in difficult acoustic spaces.

This makes the microphone suitable for environments where clarity and directionality remain critical. It can handle subtle speech as well as louder presentations and vocal performances.

Updated Design and Practical Use

DPA has also updated the microphone’s physical design. The new version includes a simplified foam shape, a flock finish, and an upgraded gooseneck.

In addition, the company has improved the shock mount. This helps reduce interference from structural vibration and cable-borne noise.

The microphone keeps the compact and lightweight form factor of the earlier model. Because of that, users can position it easily and aim it precisely without adding visual clutter. Its discreet finish also suits applications where low visual impact matters.

Use Across Film and Choir Applications

DPA says the 4097 CORE+ also remains suitable for one-person film crews when used in the 4097 Interview Kit setup. In that role, it can serve as a compact booming solution.

The microphone will also be available as part of an upcoming choir miking solution. In that configuration, it comes with a pre-assembled mic stand that folds into a storage compartment.

MicroLock and System Compatibility

Like other CORE+ microphones, the 4097 CORE+ includes DPA’s MicroLock connector. The company says this design supports a durable and stable connection for professional live and installed use.

The connector is rotatable and non-reflective. At the same time, the microphone remains backward compatible with devices that use MicroDot connectors. It also supports a range of phantom power voltages for both studio and location work.

New G-MOUNT System

Alongside the microphone update, DPA has developed a new Gooseneck Mount, called G-MOUNT. The new mounting system is designed to support a wider range of applications and provide more secure handling.

The G-MOUNT uses a two-step locking mechanism. As a result, users can adjust microphone placement with one hand while improving stability and vibration isolation. The new mount is also backward compatible with many existing DPA clips. In addition, DPA has refined selected clips to improve usability, flexibility, and acoustic performance.
