LiveU EcoSystem and Sony at NAB Show 2026

LiveU EcoSystem and Sony at NAB Show 2026

LiveU will expand its collaboration with Sony at NAB Show 2026 in Las Vegas. At Booth N1740, the company will show support for Sony file-based workflow solutions across the LiveU EcoSystem.

LiveU says the integration connects field acquisition, file transfer, and IP-based production more closely.

The new workflow adds support for Sony’s RXS Connection License inside the LiveU EcoSystem. As a result, compatible Sony cameras can transfer files directly to the Sony PWA-RXS solution through supported LiveU field units.

LiveU says it will offer the Sony RXS Connection License as part of its portfolio. Initially, the workflow will start with the LU300S transmission unit.

With this license, users can connect a supported LiveU unit to a Sony camera and transfer files into existing production environments. In this way, customers can keep familiar broadcast workflows while also adding cellular bonding and IP-based newsgathering.

LiveU says this option complements the LiveU TX1 field transmission unit announced in September 2025 for Sony professional cameras and workflow use.

LiveU says the joint workflow uses its LRT transport protocol. Therefore, broadcasters can move files from the camera in the field back to the station quickly and with stronger resilience.

Gideon Gilboa, Chief Product Officer at LiveU, said the expanded relationship with Sony reflects a shared focus on simplifying field production. He also said it extends the LiveU EcoSystem beyond live workflows. In addition, he said the new integration builds on the earlier LiveU TX1 collaboration and expands support across LiveU units.

Gilboa said customers can choose between two approaches. They can use a dedicated LiveU TX1 unit mounted directly on Sony cameras. Alternatively, they can add a license to an existing LiveU unit. This allows them to run a Sony PWA-RXS file-based workflow alongside live production without buying extra field units.

LiveU says the new integration helps news teams go live and transfer high-resolution files from the same device. At the same time, the company says customers can scale deployments more easily by using their existing LiveU infrastructure.

Gilboa said LiveU supports an open EcoSystem that works across different vendors and formats. He added that the combined workflow can reduce manual file handling, speed up field delivery, and simplify live and file-based production.

Sony on the LiveU collaboration

Ryoichi Sakuragi, Head of News Solution Business at Sony Corporation, said newsrooms now work in faster and more dynamic environments. Because of that, speed, reliability, and automation matter more.

He also said close work with partners is important for meeting different newsroom workflow needs. In addition, he said the collaboration with LiveU helps move content captured on Sony cameras into production more quickly, securely, and reliably. According to Sakuragi, the joint workflow supports better integration between field acquisition and newsroom operations.
